The
Costa del Sol
is a 300km coastal strip on the Mediterranean, which includes parts of the provinces of
Granada, Málaga and Cádiz.
The mountain ranges, which protect it from the northern winds and extend almost to the sea, produce a micro-climate in this part of Andulucia. The resulting
mild climate
with low rainfall and pleasant sea breezes supports
subtropical vegetation,
which is characterised by palms, cypresses, bougainvilleas, oleanders and hibiscus plants.
There are many beaches, small bays, golf courses, marinas and working ports yet inland, and within easy reach of all this, are
the historical sights
of such places as Granada, Ronda, Cordoba and Seville.
