The coast of
the province of Valencia
is practically a continuous beach from Sagunto down to Oliva. It is not undeveloped, being popular with Spaniards themselves, but has 500kms of excellent beaches, the odd fishing villages and the L'Albufera natural park. Among its historical attractions are ruins from the days of the
Phoenician, Greek and Roman cultures
. The Moorish heritage is evident in the traditional handicraft arts and in the cultivation of oranges and rice.
Valencia is one of the largest cities of Spain, and one of the liveliest. Lapped by the Mediterranean it has beaches even in the heart of the city. It is perfect for those seeking a seaside holiday, a wide variety of sporting activities, such as (
golf, tennis, horse-riding, cycling, all forms of water sports
) together with a bubbling night life. Valencia offers a diverse cultural life and attracts many important commercial fairs. All this produces a very dynamic and economically lively city.
Valencia was also the home city of
"El Cid"
, a national hero of Spain, who fought against the Mauren. Traditional customs and festivities in the region serve as reminders of this connection.
